Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 821, its newest mobile processor, which is about 10% faster than the current champion Snapdragon 820. But Snapdragon 821 does not come to replace the 820 – it is designed to complement and extend the competitive advantages of current technology, says Qualcomm.

In other words, it will function as a temporary chip for high-end devices until next-generation processor. 821 uses quad-core processor Kryo, which can operate at clock speeds up to 2.4GHz. This is an 0.28GHz increase compared to Snapdragon 820. Qualcomm claims that Snapdragon 821 will “set a new high for smartphones, tablets, VR headset and other new devices.”

The first wave of devices equipped with Snapdragon 821 will appear in the second half of 2016 as there is a small chance to see it in the next Galaxy Note, which is expected to be presented next month. And most probably in the next generation Nexus smartphone made by HTC.
